Nordisk Kollegium

Nordisk Kollegium is a traditional college, founded in 1942 by H.O. Lange. The beautiful building which houses the college was designed by the architect Hans Jørgen Kampmann. The College is located in Copenhagen in the area of Østerbro and houses 130 alumni from many different universities. Østerbro offers a great variety of parks, cafés and shops. Nordisk Kollegium is close to the harbor and to Østerbrogade, a street with excellent shopping opportunities as well as cafés and Park movie theatre and dance club.

It is a good option for the independent and mature guest who wants to have much privacy and who appreciates a high level of service which means having the room cleaned but also lack of cooking facilities in the apartment since 3 meals a day is included in the rent. It is also a good choice for the student or guest who wants to meet Danish students and learn more about their everyday life.

Key Pick-up for Nordisk Kollegium
Nordisk Kollegium is one of the few residences where the keys are to be picked up AND handed back at the residence’s office. Please make arrangements directly with Nordisk Kollegium.

Type of accommodation
Nordisk Kollegium is a residence hall that has a total of 130 rooms and 2 apartments. The UCPH Housing Foundation has reserved both these apartments. It is one of the few remaining Danish residence halls with a common meal program. The kitchen staff provides breakfast with lunch buffet in the dining hall at 7-9 am on weekdays and 9-11 am on weekends and holidays. Meals take place in the dining hall of the residence. If you are not at the residence for dinner time, you can arrange with the kitchen to bring the food to your apartment and heat it in the microwave. Your room gets cleaned once a week (usually each Friday) and linen and towels are also changed once a week.

You are welcome to have overnight guests. For DKK 100 per night your guest gets clean towels, bed linen and can join in the common meals.

Nordisk Kollegium has a wide range of attractive common facilities. The traditional dining hall, where the alumni meet morning and evening, is one of the main locations. Next to the dining hall is a fireplace room, which is spent on cozy winter nights as well as a dance floor at the college parties. Furthermore, Nordisk Kolleigum holds a billiard room and a library for study groups, festive events, video nights etc. On both the College 5th halls are common rooftop terraces with sun loungers, barbecue, etc. The rooftop terrace is used frequently throughout the summer and New Year's Eve, because of the fantastic city views. Last but not least Nordisk Kollegium has computer facilities, a gymnasium, a weight training room, a storage room, a bicycle storage, a laundry room and a cozy courtyard.

The apartments are 2-room apartments with 1 bedroom and 1 living room and each apartment is 40 square meters in size.

Furniture and inventory
The bedroom is furnished with 2 beds and 1 built-in closet. The living room is furnished with 1 desk, 1 desk chair, 1 leather sofa, 1 leather arm chair, 1 coffee table, 1 TV, 1 TV-table and 1 built-in bookcase.

The apartments each have a private bathroom.
The apartment do not have a kitchen but are equipped with a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee machine, an electric kettle and some cutlery.

Laundry facilities are available in the building and laundry is included in your rent.

Internet connection and TV
An internet connection is available in the apartment as well as free cable TV. For internet support please contact the administration at Nordisk Kollegium. By Danish law, everyone who has an internet connection must pay media license. This expense is included in your rent.

The residence is located 5 minutes from City Campus by bike and 10 minutes by bus. Nørre Campus can be reached within approximately 15 minutes by bike and 20 minutes by bus. To reach Søndre Campus you should allow approximately 10-15 minutes by bus or public transportation while Frederiksberg campus can be reached in 15-20 minutes by bike or public transportation.  Please use to see travelling times with public transportation and to plan your trip.

The UCPH Housing Foundation does not provide parking spaces in any of our residences.
It is possible to park in the surrounding streets, but you cannot reserve a parking space, as parking is public. A parking permit is required. Parking in Copenhagen is very expensive and that it is usually very difficult finding free parking space in this area. The UCPH Housing Foundation does not recommend you bring a car.

Smoking policy in the Residence
Smoking is not allowed in any of the residences offered by the UCPH Housing Foundation. However, there may be other rules applying for your neighbors if they didnt rent through the UCPH Housing Foundation.

The price per month is approximately DKK 10.000 including utilities, internet, cable TV, laundry, cleaning of the apartment twice a week and 3 meals a day. You can see the precise rental amount in the online system.
