Housing Foundation > Practical Information > Picking up keys

Before you arrive

When your contract for your housing arrangements are all set you can start planning your landing in Copenhagen.

How will I get hold of my keys?

When planning your arrival you must take into consideration how and when to pick up your keys. Most keys must be picked up at UCPH Housing Foundation office at Grundtvigsvej, Frederiksberg, during our opening hours, (remember that we are always closed between 12 noon - 1pm) but for 7 residences keys are to be picked up directly at the residence - please see the list below.

Please take into account that keys can only be handed out during opening hours of the office where the keys are to be picked up – either the UCPH Housing Foundation or at the residence. Arriving tenants who are not able to pick up the keys themselves may arrange with the UCPH Housing Foundation to allow for another person (e.g.  university mentor, a private contact or a future colleague) to pick up the keys on tenant’s behalf. Please email us with whom you make this arrangement (full name) and copy your contact so he/she can show us the email documentation when picking up the keys.

If your keys are to be picked up at Grundtvigsvej 14A, they can be picked up during our opening hours from the day your rental contract starts. Ofcourse, you are also welcome to pick up the keys on a date later than your contract start date.

August 1st: Please note that you can only access our office from Grundtvigsvej by foot, and not by car, due to construction work being carried out by Frederiksberg Kommune. You can ONLY access in car from Bülowsvej/Dyrlægevej or Thorvaldsensvej/Grønnegårdsvej. The construction work is expected to last until mid or end August 2016. Please note that our entrance door faces Grundtvigsvej, so if you arrive at the back of the building, please go around to the front door.

You cannot move into your residence before 12 noon on the first day of your rental contract, regardless of whether you have picked up your keys before 12 noon.

If the first rental day is on a bank holiday or weekend, it may not always be possible to gain access to the residence until the first weekday of your contract. Once we have handed out the keys to you or your contact person, you will receive an email confirmation.

In the following residences the key must be picked up at the residence hall office within office opening hours – please follow the links:

Nordisk Kollegium

Sølvgade Kaserne/BaseCamp

The mentor program

Your study program MAY have a First Contact/ Mentor program which helps incoming international students  to settle  in their new city. The mentor may be able to assist you from your arrival with settling in and helping out with practical issues also the picking up of keys as described above.

Students on exchange should e-mail int-mentor@adm.ku.dk to enquire about their mentor options.

Students taking a full degree should contact their department to learn more about if a mentor program is affiliated.
