Hall of Residence: Østerbro Kollegiet
Østerbro Kollegiet was transformed from a parking garage to a hall of residence in 2005 which gives the building a rustic and modern look. It is situated in eastern Copenhagen in Østerbro, one of the popular residential areas of Copenhagen. Østerbro offers a great variety of parks, cafés and shops. Østerbro Kollegiet is close to Østerbrogade, a street with excellent shopping opportunities as well as cafés and Park movie theatre and dance club.
Deciding whether Østerbro Kollegiet is right for you
Østerbro Kollegiet is for both students and guests.
Østerbro Kollegiet is a good option for the independent student who wants to have much privacy while still being in close proximity to other students, and who wants to live in one of the mundane areas.
The shared rooms are ideal for the student who wants to keep a low budget and who doesnt have a problem living very closely with a roommate.

Type of accommodation
The building consists of 5 floors and a total of 102 studio flats. The UCPH Housing Foundation has reserved 101 rooms in this residence; the last room is rented out to a Danish student. Some of the rooms are shared rooms shared between two students. Each floor has a common room with a balcony. There is also a sizable outdoor roof terrace available to all the residents of Østerbro Kollegiet.
All rooms are studio flats (1 room) of between 17 and 26 square meters in size.
It is prohibited to play music on the roof terrace, as this is disturbing to the neighbors. When there are social gatherings on the roof terrace please make sure you are considerate towards residents of the area and residents of Østerbro Kollegiet. Note that authorities dictate that there is a maximum limit of 50 people in a common kitchen.
Please find an inventory list of a single room in Østerbro Kollegiet here.
Our various housing is not identically furnished; places have different sizes lay-outs and the furniture has been acquired at different points in time.
You are welcome to put in furniture of your own, BUT you are also required to remove it again upon departure - if you do not, the UCPH Housing Foundation will have to remove it on your behalf and forward the bill (easily a few thousand DKK) directly to you.
Each room has a private bathroom.
Each room has a private kitchenette which has two cooking plates and a small refrigerator.
Laundry facilities are available in the building. Laundry is not included in the rent but should be paid separately.
Internet connection and TV
Østerbro Kollegiet has wireless internet for the residents. Network name and password for the wifi is posted in the halls, or you can ask your neighbors. In some rooms it is also possible to connect through the wall plug using a patch-cable. If you have the cable option and want to use it: Please make sure you plug into the WAN-gate – not the LAN-gate as you risk blocking the connection for other cabled users.
The UCPH Housing Foundation does not provide you with a TV. By Danish law, everyone who has an internet connection must pay media license. This expense is not included in your rent.
Østerbro Kollegiet is located approximately 30 minutes from Frederiksberg Campus by public transportation and approximately 20 minutes by bike. The spring 2019 price range (including utilities) is approximately DKK 3500 - 8700 a month (paid quarterly). You can see the precise rental amounts in the online booking system.
Since the rooms in Østerbro Kollegiet have private kitchenettes, it is possible to apply for housing subsidy if you live in this residence and if you're renting the entire studio to yourself (so not possible if you're sharing a studio with someone else).
